Checking

The present version of edfEdit includes some (quite primitive) checking.

An example is shown in figure 4.1

Figure 4.1: This is the checking dialog of edfEdit
\includegraphics[width=14cm]{figures/figure2.eps}

In order to show the spaces inside each field, the strings are shown limited by >] and [<. Notice that in edfEdit the characters inside the string as well as the signals are numbered beginning with 0. Since the text field is editable you can insert/delete/copy/paste anything you want and finally the report (including the annotations) can be saved to a file.

One important issue is that even if you are in the checking dialog you can continue editing the fields in the main window and when you click on Refresh, a new report is created.

Sometimes non printable characters are included in the header of EDF(+) files. In this case the text can be incomplete. To overcome this trouble you can uncheck the check button include header in report. The report is simplified and non printable characters are eliminated.

The checking is by no means complete. New checkings would be added in future versions. While the checking dialog is open, you can navigate through the main window and the tooltips on each field succinctly describe the specification of EDF(+).
